Show Hidden Files on Windows 8
Method 1
1. Locate at the bottom left corner of the desktop and get the Start menu.A: Use the Charms to open the Start button.
Open the Charm bar, which is a new super-powered sidebar. Also you can swipe in from the right edge if you are on a touch screen. And then move the cursor to the upper-right-hand corner of the desktop. When see Charm bar appearing, you move to the Windows icon, click the Start button and return to the start screen.
B: Press Windows key + C to open the Charm bar. And click Start screen Charm.
2. Type control panel in start menu and click the Control Panel option under Apps.
3. Under the Category view, drop down and choose large icons or small icons.
4. Locate at Folder Options and open it. Click View tab. Now you need check Show hidden files, folders, and drives. To see file extensions, you need uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
5. Click ok to put all changes in effect.
Method 2
1: Locate at the Metro, right click anyway where around the applications. Next a bar may pop-up from the bottom. Now click on the “All Apps” icon at the right bottom corner of the popping-up bar.2: Double click to open Windows Explorer, and then open File Explorer.
3: Click View tab, check "File name extensions" and "Hidden items" options on the pop-up window. And then press Ok to put all changes in effect.
Show Hidden Files on Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP
1. Open Control Panel from the Start button.2. For Windows 7 users, if you are in the Category view, click the drop down menu and select large icons or small icons. Windows Vista or Windows XP: Switch to the Classic View.
3. Open the Appearance and Personalization link.
4. Double click on Files and Folder Option. Access to the Folder Option category and click on the Show hidden files and Folders option.
5. Select the “View” tab. Check “Show hidden files, folders and drives.” Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Click Ok.
6. Till now, you have showed hidden files and extensions.
